I only wish they started work on other routes as well, instead of waiting for mumbai ahmedabad to be finished then start the rest. Even then 250 kmph is still slower compared to global standards.

They really should upgrade track infra across the entire country, our trains avg like 50-80 kmph which is too slow and we have an archaic definition of superfast being 70 kmph.

I like classic Indian trains bcoz as a railfan you can really enjoy door plating, the slowness and the luxury and joy of small things.

Even for flight connectivity absolutely nothing has happened. There have been no new flights from Raipur for so long now. International airport? 12 saal se sirf bakwas kar rhe hain " international status diya jayega"

People are satisfied with ₹1,000 per month and free rations. Gujju leaders find CG to be nothing less than a treasure trove. They will give Adani more Hasdeo forest land before Metro is even proposed. This happens when you don't form a strong regional party. How do you think southern states evolved? Instead of relying on the central government, regional parties pushed for infrastructure projects.

This does not seem real. No way there is no direct Mumbai - Kolkatta / Mumbai - Chennai route.  Connecting bullet train to Patna might not be in top 100 priority list. Chennai - Kolkatta connection might be better choice than going all the way to Patna.

99.9% of projects in India never finish on time and on budget. 

Case in point, the 1st HSR line, which is delayed massively. It was supposed to complete by 2024. Now estimate is around 2033. Cost is more than double.

It's criminal that they are ignoring Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Both have better-paying capacities than Eastern MP, Bihar and Jharkhand.

I was looking at a map of the under construction Surat Metro recently and saw that one line is being built on the road that also leads to the new bullet train station they're building but the last station will still be 2 miles short, which seems kind of insane to me. You can see it on Google Maps satellite view.

Once there were hopes of a national high speed rail network like what China and many European countries have.

Now it's all but vanished and the only thing on the horizon is the extension of this one line to Delhi. Because just this one line is costing over Rs 1 lakh crore. The Indian Railway's highest ever annual budget this year was just Rs 2.65 lakh crore.
 
The government's problem is that instead of coming up with a high-speed rail solution for India given its problems and limited resources, they just decided to import the high-end Japanese system wholesale, at Japanese prices.

They should have taken a lower-cost, low-risk approach like in America where there is limited funding for passenger rail. The Brightline West corridor in Nevada greatly limited capital and land acquisition costs by simply building their high-speed line along an existing highway/expressway. 

So for Diamond Quadrilateral Modi and his Railway Ministers should have just followed the route of the existing Golden Quadrilateral national highways and used land already acquired for or alongside those roads.
